Looking for some adventure? You've come to the right city. No matter what time of year, when you start your day in Vancouver, it can take you anywhere. In one form or another, the Capilano Suspension Bridge (www.capbridge.com) has spanned the massive cliffs over the Capilano River since 1889. It's one of Vancouver's best known attractions and has drawn thrill seekers and celebrities to the North Shore for over a century. Pristine forest? Check. Birds-eye view from an iconic West Coast landmark? Check. Complete vertigo-inducing, sweaty-faced terror? Checkmate. Turns out I'm not over my paralyzing fear of heights. Vancouver in a Day director Steve Adams tried to get me to stop for a mid-bridge interview, but it wasn't in the cards this time round. The new CLIFFWALK attraction was more my speed and actually really beautiful--I've never walked beside a cliff. The engineering behind it has to be seen to be believed. The Richmond Night Market (www.summernightmarket.com), on the other hand, is everything I like in a night out. Big crowds, amazing food, great bargains and the company of a great friend like Kate. The Richmond Night Market is held Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights and long weekend Mondays from May through October at an industrial property off Vulcan Way in Richmond. The atmosphere is very much like Hong Kong, Tai Pei or Bangkok—it's an experience you don't want to miss. It's a bit of a trek so if you're unfamiliar with the city, the easiest way to get there is by cab ... |

Surrounded by water on three sides and nestled alongside the Coast Mountain Range, Vancouver is the largest city in the province of British Columbia with over 2.1 million residents and one of the mildest climates in Canada. It is named for British Captain George Vancouver, who explored the area in the 1790s. Home to spectacular natural scenery and a bustling metropolitan core, Vancouver was Host City to the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2010. This is just one of our city's many awards and accolades that clearly demonstrate the many reasons to visit Vancouver. The variety of sights to see and things to do are limited only by your imagination and information. Here you can be informed of the wonders you can experience while visiting Vancouver. These are only some of the wonderful attractions which you can see while on your vacation. |

Tourism Vancouver's new destination film uses multiple platforms to send its message -- and it's unlike any promotional piece of its kind. Incorporating a local band and original song, "It's You... Vancouver" is the world's first professionally produced destination film in music video format. The song is performed by Watasun, a Vancouver-based duo whose music fuses urban beats with traditional folk sounds. One-time buskers on Vancouver's Granville Street, singer/songwriter Adam Bailie and percussionist Reid Hendry now record, produce and sell their own albums, taking inspiration from the city's diversity, vibrancy and unity. Throughout the three-minute video, the duo perform their catchy tune while making appearances in, near or atop of iconic Vancouver attractions, including the Vancouver Convention Centre roof, an Aquabus ferry and snow-covered Grouse Mountain. |

Looking for some adventure? You've come to the right city. No matter what time of year, when you start your day in Vancouver, it can take you anywhere. One of my favourite new things to do in Vancouver is a walking tour to try out the food carts and food stalls in the downtown core. This kind of tour is a foodie's dream because it involves as many stops as your appetite can handle. A deluxe BBQ kabob on Georgia Street, a tuna taco on Burrard Street, gourmet grilled cheese on Howe Street...and on and on goes the list. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon, right? So here's the deal: although Vancouver street food carts are highly concentrated in a five square block district of downtown, they also appear in other parts of the city. To help you navigate your way around the city, try downloading the Street Food Vancouver App for your smart phone by Tatlow Park Software. This app will provide you with a real time map identifying your location in relation to the nearest carts, as well as show you which carts are open for business. The street food here isn't just popcorn, pretzels and hot dogs anymore. It's as diverse and innovative as Vancouver's celebrated dining scene. While you're sightseeing and traveling between Vancouver attractions, make sure you stop and give our street eats a try. For more dining tips, make sure to visit InsideVancouver.ca. Lunar New Year is celebrated by a number of Asian cultures around the world. Of Vancouver's 2 million or so residents, over 800000 are of Asian descent. Every spring, tens of thousands of people pack the streets of Vancouver's Chinatown for one of the biggest and most colourful festivals of the year. Cypress Mountain is Vancouver's largest ski area. With 53 ski runs, six lifts and 2010 vertical feet, it's obvious why this is such a popular destination for visitors to Vancouver. In addition to the alpine skiing and riding area, there is also a Nordic area for snow shoeing, cross country skiing and snow tubing, making Cypress a great family destination. |
